Reactions to someone newly injured

An acquaintance was recently badly injured in a car crash. He has several fractures in his back, and the spinal cord was damaged.

This has sent me reeling. I can’t help thinking I wished it was me! There are lots of complication for this guy, and that’s not good, but I wish faith had been good enough to provide me the opportunity to be the one injured instead of him. I want it, he didn’t ask for it.

I’d often discussed with my late spouse the fact that it would be good if I could have given her my working body and switched for her paraplegic’s body (without doing the gender transfer though <grin>). Of course, that’s wishful thinking.

So, there’s one more para about to go through rehab. And wee old me, wishing I wasn’t actually able bodied.

About Sean

Sean is transabled. His body image is that of an L2 paraplegic. He has been living pretty much 100% of his public life from a wheelchair for the last decade, but hasn't found peace of mind (and is unlikely to until he does become a para).
