Lumbar punction

Well, I’ll be damned! I just learned this morning while speaking with my mother that I had a lumbar punction done when I was 3 or 4 years old! I don’t recall actually going through the procedure, but can’t help wondering if that experience was part of what shaped my transability.
I apparently managed to get meningitis when I was a kid. I don’t remember that part either, though I do have a “flash” of memory of having to take some med or other that came in the form of yellowish/brownish granules. I should ask Mother about it, but I think they might have been electrolytes, or something. In any case, it was apparently rather serious and the medicos opted to do a lumbar punction as part of the tests they ran.
From all accounts, lumbar punctions are a rather painful and traumatic experience. They, obviously, focus one’s attention to the back and spinal column. I can only think that my brain made a connection in some way. What aspect of the lumbar punction could have added to my need to be a para? I honestly don’t know at this point. It certainly is worth more thinking about.
