Guy Chops Arm Off With Homemade Guillotine – Is It BIID?

Some guy in Seattle chopped his arm off with a homemade guillotine. He refuses to have it reattached. There’s a blurb in the papers about it from AP. A journalist has contacted me wanting to do a phone interview.

I don’t do phone interviews, so won’t speak with him.

I pointed out to the journalist that people chop off their limbs for reasons other than having BIID. From the very little information available through that article, it appears that the man was quoting the Bible and talking about it being better to lose a limb than a soul.

Before deciding whether a guy has BIID, it must be determined that he’s not actually delusional, or going through any other major episode of other conditions.

This guy may, or may not, have BIID. We don’t know. I just hope the doctors and psychiatrists that treat him know enough about BIID to recognise it if it is a case of BIID.

As for the journalists – I trust very very few of them.

Wow. Big contraption he built. I wondered if he would end up successful in the attempt, appears to be so.

Yeah, that’s a pretty elaborate way to go about it… From the meager information in the article, it sounds to me like he suffers from some sort of delusion or psychosis and not BIID. He told the officers he wouldn’t “snitch”. On who? And then the references to the bible. Oh well, if it made him happier.

I just hope that we don’t get any negative media attention because of this. We don’t need people thinking everyone that chops a limb off has BIID.

BIID IS getting out there and starting to get noticed.
I’ve recently come across two fictional stories recently, one each on two different sites, using BIID as a main theme in them.
One was on a story website where the author used BIID incorrectly. A member of that site called them out on it and asked them to do more research into BIID then re-think/re-write their story. The story was removed with-in 24 hours and has not re-appeared there in any form.
The other was in a Yahoo group that caters to stories with a particular general theme, and in that case the author was using BIID in a correct context but in the course of the story called BIID a ‘disease’. Someone posted a response to the story and informed them that BIID is NOT a disease and asked that they change it, but so far there has been no change to the wording.

So, BIID is getting out there and being noticed, and depending on how you look at it that can be good or bad.

@Ellen_biid:

Somebody who is working in the medical field and has BIID pointed to the meaning of the words:

disease = dis-ease: we are not at ease with our bodies – so why not call it a disease?

ill-ness: don’t we feel ill = bad often with our BIID?

dis-order: don’t we feel that we are not in the right order, the order between body and soul/mind/whatever? Don’t we want to get another form = order?

etc.
