Goodbye, Furkid

Today, I had to put one of our dogs to sleep. I am devastated

This dog was 14 years old and pretty much healthy, bar a couple things. She had a bit of arthritis.

A combination of factors led to her hurting herself. She managed to give herself a spinal injury, which over the course of 4 days got progressively worse. By the end, she was paraplegic. Oh the irony is twisting in my guts like a hot rusted blade.

So I’m sorry if I’m not particularly available for a few days. I’m just falling apart.

Dear Sean,

this is really sad.

An animal is how it is, it cannot hide anything. That is one of the (many) reasons why we need them so much.

Animal – anima, the soul.

Please don’t be hurt or angry at me when I ask the question if this very sad event has distracted you from BIID a bit? Given any new or old insights? For me, strong feelings are “grounding” me a bit more and let me see my desires much more relative.

Take care
Phil

@Phil, no reason for me to be hurt or angry. Your question is not only valid, but good. The loss of our dog has not been distracting me from BIID. If anything, it’s aggravated things. It reminded me, yet again, about how ephemourous and unpredictable our lives are. I could be hit by a truck tomorrow and die. I don’t want to die before I’ve at least had a chance to experience paralysis.

My sympathy to you. I had a cat for 19 years- he just became worn out! Toward the end he was epileptic. Though not human, a close and dear friend. It leaves a big hole in the heart…

Sean, Sorry to hear about loosing your dog. It’s a shame that dogs don’t live longer than humans. It sure would make it easier on us.
