ADA Day

Today, 14 years ago, the Americans with Disabilities Act was signed into law.
Have things changed?
It’s hard to say, isn’t it? Many things have improved. A few things haven’t. A few other things have gone bad.
The Courts have continually reduced our civil rights forgetting the spirit of the law, and removing a few letters from the "letter of the law".
People see the ADA as a brick & mortar law, when in fact, it is a civil rights law.
People get angry that we demand access. Not really unlike people getting angry that african-americans were demanding entry to building appartments (ok, that’s grossly simplified, but think about it…
Oh humm, happy birthday ADA, may you live long and prosper.
