Peter on Coming Out About BIID

Written by Peter on Monday, September 22, 2008

The following is part of a series of questions & answers from Peter, centering about coming out, that is, informing people about BIID

Q – Who have you told about BIID?
A – Concerning my leg, I have told my husband, relevant people in the medical world and pretender friends.
A – Concerning the desire to have a BE amputation, I have told everyone I know. This was easier because the arm has a real movement problem and the reason for this and the desire for amputation stems from a confirmed neurological disorder.
Q – Have you told your parents?
A – (included in everyone above)
Q – Have you told your parents about being gay?
A – I didn’t have to. They just seemed to take it for granted. When we go to stay with them I don’t think they’ve ever asked if we would like single beds. After all, we are married (official civil union).
Q – If you’ve told your parents both about BIID and being gay, which one did they take "best"?
A – When I said I want to be rid of my forearm, my father seemed a little concerned for my work and my mother has reached the stage where she only transmits information so her receiver has become almost redundant.
Q – What has been people’s reaction to being told?
A – Most have not commented
