BIID vs Depression – Peter’s take

Written by Peter on Monday, October 13, 2008

It seems like BIID and Depression often run hand in hand in people who have BIID. I asked Peter his thought on the matter and was quite surprised by his response!

For me there is absolutely no connection between the two whatsoever.

Thankfully I’m not prone to depression but I have been depressed sometimes. I have found that going out pretending helps relieve depression but BIID itself not depression causing.

It should also be stressed that I am an exceptionally optimistic and positive thinking individual with above average will power.

BIID will never be the cause of depression for me because I know we will get what we need one day soon. This very web site is a reason for optimism. Some of the discussion groups are too, but alas they count many members with apparent other psychological problems and there is often very negative thinking going on.

People who get depressed are usually the indecisive ones. You want your leg chopped off… Yes but I like tap dancing… What will the neighbours say… Can I claim insurance? Etc. etc. But I know if I really want that expensive 4×4 truck I will get it. If I were indecisive I would never get amputation, paralysis etc. if they were handed to me on a plate. Then I would be depressed, but not by BIID, by my indecision.

I just came back to read my own post of 18 months ago. It might help me. I finally felt depression.
