Thanksgiving

I give thanks for having BIID. It makes my life more interesting.

I give thanks for being intersexed. It makes my life more interesting.

I give thanks for my wheelchair. I would be a mess without it.

I give thanks for Prozac. I would be a mess without it.

I give thanks for not hating myself any more.

I give thanks that I can embrace my pain.

I give thanks to Alicia for celebrating my BIID.

I give thanks to friends and family for accepting who I am.

I give thanks for transabled.org.

I give thanks to strangers who show me kindness.

I give thanks to you all for helping me with my personal growth.

I give thanks to you all for letting me babble on so much.

I give thanks to the inventor(s) of leg braces; brilliant engineering!

I give thanks to my friends with disabilities for sharing their lives with me.

I give thanks for not being alone.

I give thanks for my skiing accidents.

I give thanks for my peeing accidents.

I give thanks to my strong leg(s) for taking me hiking. (Betcha didn’t see that one coming!)

I give thanks for being a woman.

I give thanks for chocolate.

I give thanks for muscle spasms.

I give thanks to the mountains.

I give thanks for hugs.

I give thanks for everything that brought me to this moment.

I am thankful for so much and many that I cannot make a list of.

Most thankful am I for my partner and good friends, my doctor, my therapist and that I have a heart that still can open – I see it as a gift.

About Chloe

Chloe has paraplegic manifestation of BIID. Most of her life is conducted in leg braces (KAFOs) or in her wheelchair. She is fortunate to have a very understanding and emotionally supportive partner (Alicia).
