Nothing to say

There haven’t been much in the way of updates to the site recently. I’ve been busy with a couple other projects (and will still be busy for the next few weeks as well). But I just didn’t think I really had anything to say. But as I was driving, thinking that I should at least post to say I had nothing to say, I thought of a couple things. One was about advice, and has already been posted. The other, well, I’m about to write it.

So, perhaps I should just stop here, I’ve said I had nothing to say! But I’m never the one to take the easy way out, and as our good friend Ian says, Sean has verbal diarhea!

I always feel bad when there is no updates on the site. I want to see action, movement. First, a site that doesn’t change, and add content is a site that dies, and people stop frequenting it. I want MORE people coming to the site, not LESS! I want repeat visitors as well (about 30% of repeat visitors at the moment, which isn’t bad, but I want more). And therefore, content must "move". This is one of the reason I was so happy to get a few contributors to the site, because between 4 contributors, it should in theory be easy to get a couple updates a week. There’s a potential 5th contributor on the way. That should keep the site hopping!

Yet, updates are still few and far between, really, mover than a week between updates.

  • Because we have nothing to say.
  • Because we *think* we have nothing to say.
  • Because we have something to say but don’t know how to say it.
  • Because we want to say something, but don’t have the time to write it up.
  • Because we’re depressed and it takes all our energies going through our daily routine, nothing left to think about how to say what we want to say.
  • Because we need a break from thinking.
  • Etc…

I understand all that, heck, I’ve been through every one of those, many times over. But it doesn’t mean I wouldn’t prefer to see more activity on the site :)

As an aside, the site is going to undergo a major redesign, again. I’ve received enough comments that the visual design of the site as is doesn’t work all that well (although I *really* like the graphic at the top). And it should be easier for people to contribute to the site, whether it be commenting on articles, or writing up articles themselves. I’ve decided to move the site from one CMS to another entirely. The migration will take time, but it should make things easier for you to say what you’d like to say after I’ve done it :)

About Sean

Sean is transabled. His body image is that of an L2 paraplegic. He has been living pretty much 100% of his public life from a wheelchair for the last decade, but hasn't found peace of mind (and is unlikely to until he does become a para).
