Despite being in a wheelchair most of the time, my leg braces get quite a bit of use. Things wear out; especially when you boulder hop up mountains and such. It was time to take my KAFOs in for a tune up.

BIID: The Poem

I came home from work a few weeks ago to find that Danielle (Alicia) had just published her third book of poetry: "Dead Black Bird in a Furnace." Bilateral Leg Brace Hike Number Two

I felt ready to push the envelope a bit in this mode of hiking with leg braces. I decided to go alone and 100% off trail. There was inevitably going to be some boulder hopping too; I’m familiar with what to expect in such an area even though I’d never done this particular hike before. And yes, the idea of all this scared the crap out of me. However, I am accustomed to scaring the crap out of myself; it seems to be a habit of mine.
