GP Visit Number Four

Since these GP visits in wheelchair have turned out to be quite pleasant experiences, I told my partner that I didn’t need her to come hold my hand this time. A guy asked me if I needed help on account of the ice in the parking lot but I declined, figuring I could make it in the Quickie GPV. No problem. It would definitely have been a problem in the Veranda.

Blindsimming and Such

Back in July, Sean and I had a little interchange of posting comments in connection with "Bronwyn’s fateful weekend". Sean suggested there that I should talk to my psychotherapist about what has motivated me to do blindsimming. My first reaction was "Yeah right Sean, he’s just going to think I’m a nutcase". Then I realised that psychotherapists like nutcases. That’s why they are psychotherapists. Here’s what the ensuing discussions with my psychotherapist uncovered:

The Intersex Connection

It may appear that being a hermaphrodite (intersexed) is entirely unrelated to BIID. My psychotherapist has pointed out that psychology is complicated, and almost everything is connected with almost everything else. He and I have discussed my intersex-BIID connections at great length. After all, intersex psychology is one of his specialties. We found four distinct ways in which being a hermaphrodite has substantially affected the development of my BIID.

My Back Injury

While skiing in December 2006, I sustained a minor T10-T12 spinal compression injury resulting in some permanent nerve damage. I am happy to have a teaser, but at the same time frustrated not to have much more extensive paralysis and sensory loss.

Heavy Metal: Part 1

My partner and I just got back from a two week road trip together. I brought my wheelchair, and I also brought my leg braces (KAFOs). It seemed like a good opportunity to experience the relative merits of the different assistive devices in various circumstances.
