In a recent series of comments on A comparison between transsexuality and transableism, which had 117 comments at the time of this writing, Nikki Sullivan asked several most interesting questions, and made many good points. I wanted to separate those questions and points and address then in a post of their own, as they are too important to "hide" them in a long list of comments.

It Has Nothing To Do With Wanting To Be *Disabled*

One of the Google Alerts I receive pointed me to a transgender resource site’s forum. Someone had posted a link to Sophie’s It’s All About You. And of course, the discussion that ensued had some good and bad, backed up by a lot of misunderstanding and erroneous facts, if not complete lack of facts. As usual, I do my best to provide people with the right information so they can make an informed decision. The thread was locked after a couple responses to my post.

BIID Surgery, GID Transition, and After-Effects

A few days ago, I was pointed out to a couple pages that really hit me hard. They were written by the spouse of a MtF transsexual, who explains why she remained in the relationship. I’m very glad to hear that so far, things are going well for them. I’m glad that Anita has managed to be open minded and they are working things out. But some of the things she said really hit close to home for me.
