Wheeling Hurts Everyone

"Wheeling doesn’t hurt anyone." That is one of the long-standing rallying cries in favor of wheeling among those with BIID. Wheeling as a coping mechanism prevents us from harming themselves physically in an attempt to get an SCI, but wheeling does hurt people — badly.

More on The Handless Maiden

I had told Chloe about The Handless Maiden by Loranne Brown, and she eventually read it. I had been thinking of writing a post about it for quite a while, but I never managed to get past the first few lines. Then, Chloe published her post, The Handless Maiden. I’m not going to say much about the novel in this post, I’m not even trying to get to anything, this is just a bunch of reactions that I went through while reading Chloe’s post. Gordo’s humble beginnings

This is a bit long-winded, but hopefully it’s easy to read and rich in content, so bear with me here… :)

There are some out there who say that people with Body Integrity Identity Disorder often have some early interaction with people with disabilities, which eventually leads to "acquiring" BIID. Some may have relatives or friends with disabilities, or have constant contact with people with disabilities. It is very possible that this contact may manifest itself in someone’s early childhood memories and eventually morph into BIID.
