Phil was asking some serious questions lately. Can BIID change over time? Can it go away? Can he have working legs and be happy? Many of his questions are about the future. Many are "if" questions. What if he had amputation but then there would be a cure for BIID? What if?

I keep adocating in favour of surgery as a way to treat BIID. I point out that there is no evidence or indication that anything else than surgery works to really treat BIID. But that does not meant that I think surgery is the way for everyone.

After many tribulations, I finally had a "real" appointment at the local community mental health clinic. It was a bit of an assessment, and making sure we’re on the same page. I met with a psychotherapist whom I had already met with before, and a social worker who has trained as a psychotherapist. The encounter was mostly good, and somewhat challenging as well.

You have to admire the tenacity of some people. You have to admire the level of denial of these people too. A British soldier with a spinal cord injury recently completed the London Marathon. 13 days after everyone else… He had something to prove. He is raising money for charity, yeah, but he had something to prove.
