I was a bit nervous about my first visit to an orthotist; not quite sure what to expect. As soon as I transferred from my car to the wheelchair, the anxiety vanished. Wheelchairs will do that.

I’ve been reading the posts on transabled.org from a year ago. I read through last year’s posts until the end of March 2008 and found that they were unfamiliar. That means I had yet to discover transabled.org by the end of March last year. It occurred to me to look at last year’s diary to see exactly what I was doing a year ago. It’s not a diary written after the fact, just what I’m planning to do that day. Not much detail, but enough to reconstruct what was going on. It turned out that March 31st 2008 was the day my BIID went supernova.

I find it amusing how much body hardware I have accumulated. It literally goes from head to toe. Some of it is for BIID. Some of it is for assorted physical conditions. I’ll just start at the top and work my way down:

In the last three weeks I have had three out of state business trips. Since my assistive device mode at work is a single forearm crutch, that is what I used on the trips. This is small potatoes compared with those of you who fly with a wheelchair, but I take baby steps. These were my first times flying with a crutch.
