A Chance Encounter

When I went to get my afternoon latte today, one of the cafeteria employees was sitting next to the Starbucks. He’s about twenty years old, and we always enjoy conversing. We gave each other a big grin as I rolled up. He said "It looks like you’re having more and more fun with that". I said "Yes, it IS fun". We chatted about fun things to do in a wheelchair, as I waited for my coffee. I probably would not have given this any more thought had it not been for a chance encounter as I left work this evening.

Up And Down Revisited

Before amputation, my BIID was up and down a lot.  Now I am much more stable, but there is still some up and down. Before, when BIID was up, I really despised being what I was.  When it was down, I was mildly unhappy about being what I was.

More on The Handless Maiden

I had told Chloe about The Handless Maiden by Loranne Brown, and she eventually read it. I had been thinking of writing a post about it for quite a while, but I never managed to get past the first few lines. Then, Chloe published her post, The Handless Maiden. Life, BIID, Surgery, Value, And All That Jazz

Today finds me empty, deflated. I fail to see what the point of continuing like this is. There are happy moments here and there, but they are far from sustained, and they are overshadowed by a brutish despair.
