I’ve thought about this. Yes, I think the physical effect could be identical if done properly (some Epi’s only block the sensation nerves and not the movement ones, I once some years before my injury had an Epi for back pain and it didn’t paralyse) but I think anyone paralyzed by an Epi would be like me on the first day, unable to even sit up without falling over.

You would be doubly incontinent and impotent. The chances of doing anything like transferring to a chair or brace walking would I think be pretty remote. Also Epi’s need to be constantly topped up so you would have an anesthetist following you about <g> I don’t think that experience would be anything like that of an experienced paraplegic who had the management of their condition in hand.

About Sean

Sean is transabled. His body image is that of an L2 paraplegic. He has been living pretty much 100% of his public life from a wheelchair for the last decade, but hasn't found peace of mind (and is unlikely to until he does become a para).
