So, I’ve written over a thousand posts now, but you probably didn’t know that. It’s not that Sean is keeping them all to himself, it’s just that BIID and TA.org is not my only gig. I have other mental health (sorry if the term offends) issues and I am very active on two other mental health boards. With all of this volume, I have developed a certain style and I think it’s actually worth discussing, as it’s all about honesty.

OK, I admit it, this is kind of a Bus Plunge story, but it’s a bit of a quandary for me. (Lane asks self: why so many questions? Lane also asks himself if that question is recursive?) The problem is, I have two decent wheelchairs that I would like to see go to really good use, but I’m not sure how to make that happen.

In Stormy Night 1 & 2, I recounted the true story of how I was hit by a drunk driver at highway speed, suffered massive injuries, including multiple spinal fractures, an incomplete SCI, peripheral nerve injuries, and a whole host of internal and orthopedic nonsense. It took me a month to wake up from a coma, and when I did, I found that I had total paralysis in my right side and decrease sensation and function in my left leg. Despite the tragedy, this was real progress.

A number of weeks ago, a exposition of disability products and services passed through a nearby town. Normally, I would eschew such things as being too dev-y, but I had my new chair on order and was still in the mode of considering embellishments, so I took a day off work and went on down. It turned out to be a great time.
