The first snow storm of the season hit us yesterday. It’s a bit early for snow here…where’s that global warming they keep promising me? Snow sucks when you’re wheeling. Unless you’re sitskiing, of course.

The Paralympics have started and…I’ve been totally clueless as to what’s going on. Sadly, NBC in the US has decided to dedicate exactly ZERO minutes to Paralympic coverage, siting that advertisers feel that there’s not enough public interest for them to invest in supporting coverage. Other countries (such as Canada) are devoting an hour or two here and there to coverage, but it’s nothing like the coverage the Olympics got. Happily, there are a few places online where you can watch certain events live, or taped highlights of other events. Below is a list of sites that are featuring coverage of the Paralympics. If you know of others, please feel free to post them here.

Dominick Evans’ response to our response…
I just don’t have the heart to continue this debate. The thing is, if I’ve seen three mental health professionals, a medical doctor and a behavioral neurologist and been told by all and sundry “there’s nothing we can do for BIID”, and persevered ANYWAY and am still in therapy despite this negative reaction from the very community that I’ve gone to for help, and people like Dominick choose to state that “I don’t believe any of them have truly tried to change through therapy and medication,”…well, there’s nothing more to say, is there? What’s the point? Bah.

I met a pretender today who had an interesting approach to it, I thought. My last post stirred a couple of people up, so I went back into the annals of the late, great, wheelchairpretenders group to read the old posts once again. One guy had said something interesting, and I could also see that he was online. So I sent him an instant message, to see what he had to say about his motivations for pretending. He turned out to be really cool.
