Recently, someone shared their thoughts about euthanasia. I can describe this person as compassionate to the plight of persons with BIID, and yet their thoughts about euthanasia surprised me.

A person with a disability once told me about being mugged on the street. It wasn’t a violent mugging, no gun or knife drawn, but still they were removed of their valuables. They were likely mugged because a person in a wheelchair may seem an easy target. The victim, felt afraid and powerless. I’ve recalled this revelation many times since I first heard the story, and it always tugs at my heart.
