Last week, I took the trip of a lifetime. I lived a dream. I did something I
have always wanted to do. For the first time ever, I spent time in a wheelchair,
in public, doing everyday things. For 48 hours, I lived as a wheelchair-user.
To say it was an eye-opening experience would be a gross understatement. Every
minute was an adventure, and nothing, nothing I did, wasn’t somehow

I’m a 36-year-old woman with a college degree, happily married to an able-bodied
man for 10 years and mother of able-bodied children. I work part-time in a professional
field and have my own hobbies. I’m your typical soccer mom. But there
has been a shadow over me my whole life, and I have never spoken of it until

I should have given you all a recent update - its now 2 months since my amp and things are just so great, I have no words to describe the happiness in which I live each day since the surgery. I woke up from surgery without pain and this happy feeling which has never left

This is basically my story. I use the name Lily and I live in France. I’m a married woman, with 3 children and I have a wonderful husband.
Some of you may have heard of me either in a British newpaper as the "french woman who injured her legs and then wanted them amputated" or on the ABC Primetime Show about people wanting to become amputees.
