Authors Wanted!

We are looking for new contributors to the site.

Do you have BIID? Are you interested in writing regularly about your experience living with BIID? If so, becoming an author on this site may be what you are looking for.

We are also interested in people with disabilities who would like to write about BIID, although we are looking for a positive perspective.

Time commitment

We would like authors to commit to an average of 2 new entries every month. We realise that sometimes life throws curves at you and you may not always be able to do this. This is a guideline more than a solid requirement.

We prefer people to not write only one or two entries and then disappear.

BIID type

While there currently is a majority of people needing to be paralysed participating on the site, we do not limit participation to those who need to be paralysed. If you need to be an amputee, or blind, or deaf, or another condition, you are welcome.

Nothing new to say, you think?

Some people believe they have nothing new to bring to the table. This is usualy not quite true. While some topics have been covered before, everyone who discusses a topic will talk about it in different ways. Different ways to explain a particular topic will make it more understandable to a wider audience.

There’s also the fact that the people who have discussed something before may not have thought of all the ins and outs of it.

Finally, it’s good to revive a topic once in a while, since there are always new people coming to the site.

Censorship

We do not censor authors over different points of view. If an issue arises, we will discuss it with you.

Some things you should know before commiting

In no particular order:

  • All entries are reviewed before publication. This is not due to censorship but to ensure consistent formatting.
  • In general, only one new entry per day is published on the site. This means new entries may be time delayed for a few days.
  • Hate speech will not be tolerated.
  • You must provide a brief paragraph of information about yourself to appear beside your posts.

Caveat

While we are looking for new people to write for the site, we hope to get to know you before granting author access to the site. You are welcome, but we want to ensure a good fit. This is good for both you and the site. To that effect, we ask you to contact Sean and tell him a bit about yourself. We are interested to know such things as what is your needed impairment, when you began feeling this way, what you think you could bring to the site. You may also be asked to provide one or two sample posts.

Contact Sean to further discuss your participation on the site!
