Ongoing research is happening about Body Integrity Identity Disorder at the University of California at San Diego. The team that showed evidence of neurological involvement in BIID is still studying BIID, and they need your help!

If you need to have an arm amputated, and haven’t had it done yet, please contact Dr. Paul McGeoch.

Here is Dr. McGeoch’s call for study candidates:

Dear All,

As some of you know, I together with Dr Ramachandran and David Brang of the University of California, San Diego, have been investigating BIID for several years now. A number of volunteers have come to see us over this period to whom we are very grateful.

However, we have not, as yet, met anyone who desires the amputation of an upper limb. This is an area we are very interested in exploring and thus if you desire the amputation of an upper limb (but have not yet obtained it) and would be interested in learning more about our work with the view to perhaps visiting us then please get in touch. My email address is pmcgeoch@psy.ucsd.edu

Best wishes,

Paul McGeoch MD

If I had the opportunity of going to San Diego, I would go in a heart beat. Claire has gone to see them and while results were not conclusive, she was happy to have gone.

So, go on! Do your bit for BIID :)
