While I spend the majority of my public life as a wheelchair user, I sometimes walk. The reasons for that are many and varied, and too long to explain here. But on the rare occasions I walk, I sometimes get asked by the people who see me in the chair about why I’m walking.

Apologies to my father

On and off I’ve talked about my father on this site. Among other things, I’ve said that his problems with alcohol really impacted me. He has taken offense at that, and I will admit that it is possible that people would perceive him to be a worse man than he actually is. My father is not a bad man, not by a long stretch.

Body Changes

As I was bathing, I thought about the changes in my body in the last 15 or so years. I don’t have the benefit of a wonderful body, though I am blessed with a metabolism that lets me eat whatever I want, in any amount, and remain invariably at the same weight. That said, my body is not pristine.

The Big Experiment

Last night on TV, they showed a programme called “The Big Experiment”. The concept is interesting, take people and get them to experience a completely different “reality”. The first show was playing on the gender bender concept, where a man received training/makeup/effects and after a couple weeks had to spend an entire day as a woman, and a woman did the same, but as a man. The week after that was touching on ethnicity. Last night’s topic was “Disability”.
